The development and history of the
typewriter is one of the most interesting chapters in technology. Without this technical aid, it would not be possible to imagine the economic, cultural or private life we enjoy today.
The
collection of the typewriter museum consists of
1,200 individual pieces from the period of 1864 to 1980.
All of these pieces can be viewed (even in the archive, where an extensive number of typewriters are stored).
It is particularly worth seeing the work of the inventor of the typewriter,
Peter Mitterhofer (1822 - 1893) who was born in
Parcines and in whose honour the town of Parcines established this museum in 1997.
