The Texel Nature Park is the largest of the seven nature parks in South Tyrol and covers 33.430 hectares. Many people think it is the most beautiful.

When you walk through the park you walk, botanically speaking, from Mediterranean bushes and woods to mountain pastures and on to the ice region. It is really amazing what grows here.

The world of the animals is no less colourful. Not only the Alpine classics such as deer, chamois and ibex, but also rare varieties such as the golden eagle. Falkens and hawks soar around the sky, you can hear the whistling of the marmots and in the pools and ponds the Alpine salamander and the mountain newt spawn. The scenery is fascinating.

Discover the highest Alpine lakes, the wild streams, the waterfall and the glaciers in the nature park.

With amplitude of nearly 3000 m, the nature park contains the whole pallet of South Tyrolean communities, from sub Mediterranean vegetation to eternal ice.

One of the highlights of the nature park is the nine Spronser lakes, the largest group of Alpine lakes in South Tyrol.

One of the best ways to discover the diversity of the mountains is to walk along the well known Meraner Höhenweg. The loop path goes round the nature park and is 120 km long. You can start at various points along the path.
